Counting Down the 5 Most Expensive Art Auctions

Ever wondered about the most expensive art auctions of all time? Here is the list to the top five.

Pulling in at number five is Jackson Pollock’s No. 5, 1948. Pollock’s painting sold for $140,000,000 in 2006 to a private owner.

For number four we have Pablo Picasso’s Les Femmes d’Alger (“Version O”). This painting sold in 2015 to a private owner for $179,400,000.

At the number three spot is Mark Rothko’s No. 6 (Violet, Green, and Red). Rothko’s painting sold for $186,000,000 in 2014 to a private owner.

The number two spot is claimed by Paul Cézanne’s The Card Players which sold in 2011. The State of Qatar bought this painting for $250,000,000.

And finally we come to our number one painting Nafea Faa Ipoipo (When Will You Marry?) by Paul Gauguin. This painting sold in 2015 for $300,000,000.
