Singer-Songwriter Grace Sewell Reaches No. 1 in Australia

Grace Sewell is a new Australian singer-songwriter, best known for her re-make of the song “You Don’t Own Me,” originally performed by Lesley Gore. Grace recorded the song with G-Eazy. It quickly became a top ten viral track on Spotify in April of this year. In May of this year the song debuted at the number fourteen spot on the ARIA Singles Chart, quickly peaking in the number one spot.

She was born in Brisbane, Australia where she attended All Hallow’s School and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Primary School Sunnybank. Her musical background is fairly diverse. She grew up listening to music legends Smokey Robinson, Janis Joplin, Shirley Bassey, and Amy Winehouse. Her grandparents performed in the musical group Gibbs Brothers.

It’s no surprise that she already has a number one single with such a strong music background. Her brother Conrad Sewell, which whom she often performs, is the lead singer of Sons of Midnight, a group that we hope to hear more from in the near future.
