The Most Anticipated Movie Sequels Of 2013

If we know one thing about Hollywood, its that they will milk a movie for all its worth. If that means making 13 Paranormal Activities, so be it. While it is true that Hollywood may be lacking in the fresh ideas department, there are a number of exciting movie sequels being released this year that are sure to turn out throngs of movie goers while delivering a solid movie experience. Hopefully, these 9 anticipated movie sequels will live up to their hype.

Iron Man 3 (Released May 3)

I guess it wasn’t enough to end with the Avengers. Time to revamp Iron Man’s suit again! Not going to lie though; Tony Stark’s quick wit and hilarious timing make him the most entertaining favorite super hero. I am very excited to see Iron Man face off against his most formidable opponent yet: The Mandarin. But I am most excited to see what hilarious things Stark is going to say next.

Star Trek Into Darkness (Released May 17)

Who is going to be the villain in the return of this beloved franchise? I guess we are going to have to go see the movie to find out. Captain Kirk leads his team on a search for the villain who is a man of mass destruction. I can’t wait to see superstar actors Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, and Zoe Saldana return to the screen.

The Hangover Part 3 (Released May 24)

The first one was great. The second one was the same. But literally, the same plot, just sub a monkey for a tiger and India for Vegas. Will Hangover 3 deliver a dose of something fresh? That remains to be seen. You think these guys would have learned not to drink so much by now.

Monsters University (Released June 21)

Guess this is actually more of a prequel. Wondering how Mike and Sulley got to be so close? This movie will take you all the way back to their days at the University of Fear. But don’t be fooled, Mike and Sulley weren’t always the best of friends. Check out the Monsters University Website! It has everything from how to apply to MU to athletics to campus life.

Despicable Me 2 (Released July 3)

Little is known about the plot of this upcoming film, but I am more than excited to get a second dose of the hilariously adorable minions. Steve Carell will return again as Dr. Nefario, along with many new characters!

Thor: The Dark World (Released November 8)

More post-Avengers mayhem! Iron Man isn’t the only one that has some aftermath problems to take care of. Thor has to fight of the Dark Elves led by the evil Malekith. It is in Thor’s hands to save the entire universe. But, at least, his fights will lead him back to the girl; Natalie Portman reappears in this movie!

Catching Fire (Released November 22)

Katniss and Peeta return to fight again to the death in this second installment. For all you fans out there, you finally get to see Finnick (portrayed by Sam Claflin) come to life on screen, as well as the many other new and beloved characters. I’m personally very excited to see those killer monkeys.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (Released December 13)

I can’t wait for this movie. Bilbo, Gandalf, and the Dwarves continue on their journey. I can’t wait to see what adventures they get to encounter next. The Hobbit was such an artistic movie, and to see that come to life again on the screen should be incredible once again.  It is interesting how the Hobbit installments go beyond the book and further develop the connections with Lord of the Rings. Peter Jackson really knows how to work his magic.
