Ukraine Making Its Mark On American Culture

Most people do not even know Ukraine nor will they ever. For my generation, we know the Ukraine as a republic which was once part of the power U.S.S.R. Located in eastern Europe, Ukraine has a great influential nature for both literature and architecture. Ukrainians have also made many notable contributions throughout the world in art, music, and sports. Here are a few that have made or are making their contributions to the rest of the world.

Dnitry Salita:

Salita is a Ukranian born Jewish boxer who is currently residing in Brooklyn, New York. He moved to the United States with his family when he was nine years of age due to the increased violence against Jews in the region. In addition to continuing the Jewish traditions (he will not box on the Sabath day), he is making his mark on the world of boxing. He has only lost one fight in his professional career and is sure to add a championship title to his name in the near future.

Denis Kudla:

Kidla is a professional tennis player who represents the United States. Ukranian born, he has 3 singles and 2 doubles titles in his career. This is a great feat for someone who is only 20 years of age. He has been ranked as high as No. 3 in the world for junior players and likely to continue his career by gathering up numerous championships prior to the trials for the 2016 Olympics.

Anthony Fedorov:

Federov is an American singer and former American Idol contestant. And guess what? Yes, he is from Ukraine. He is the current lead singer for the band 7th Heaven, one of the busiest independent bands in the U.S. performing more than 250 shows per year. He has also been dabbling in an acting career so we will more than likely seen him on the big screen in the near future.

VERONIKA:

Born in Ukraine, VERONIKA left at the age of 16 and has been making her mark on the world ever since. She had careers in modeling and television hosting in Europe prior to coming to the United States to pursue a career in music. Her first single (Ain’t Russian Doll) reached 2 million hits on YouTube in less than 2 months. Her dancing style has compared to that of Mila Kunis (also of Ukrainian decent) in Black Swan. She is also working with notable director Yevgenily Timokhin to produce an upcoming video for her song entitled CamerRA.

Larysa Poznyak:

Poznyak was born in Ukraine and also won the title of Miss Ukraine. She is now the face of many luxury brands such as Bebe, Roberto Cavalli, and Effat Yari. She also had a career as a television host for shows such as Fashion TV and Fashion Destination as well as appearing in the television shows CSI Miami and Days Of Our Lives.
