“Voice” Contestant Anthony Riley Suicide

Anthony Riley was a contestant on the TV series “The Voice” in its eighth season. In his audition for the show, he sang “I Got You (I Feel Good),” a song originally by artist James Brown. He won the judges over, setting a record for how quickly each of the judges turned around once he began singing, and had his pick for which judge he wanted. In the end, he chose Pharrell Williams.

After being on the show for only a short time, Anthony left for personal reasons after his first battle. These reasons were eventually revealed to be his entrance into a drug rehabilitation center for a battle with a substance abuse problem.

He completed his rehabilitation, but in spite of his fans’ protestations, he had no plans to return to “The Voice” for another season. Unfortunately, the latest news referring to him is about the Anthony Riley suicide. At the age of 28, he was found dead, hanging in a basement apartment where he had been living. His best friend said that he had passed away on Tuesday but his body wasn’t found until Friday.

Before his audition on “The Voice,” he was a street performer in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was described as a loving, caring, and gentle person. His family, friends, and fans alike are devastated by the news of this loss. As of yet, there are no definite plans for his funeral, though his family has stated that there will be an open memorial.
